Student-Athlete of the Month Release in PDF Format
Prais scored six goals in nine games, including two game-winners, for the women's soccer team. For a span of eight games, Prais scored every goal for the Bears, including the lone goal in 1-0 victories over Cal State Northridge and Air Force. At the end of the month, Prais was the team's leader in goals (6), points (12), shots (32), shot percentage (.188), shots-on-goal (19) and game-winning goals (2). In the Bears' September 17 loss to Minnesota, Prais scored on what head coach Tim Barrera considered one of the best plays he had seen during his time at Northern Colorado. She got control of the ball deep in the Northern Colorado defense, and took it the length of the field beating out several Minnesota defenders - some multiple times - before lacing a shot accross the goal to tie the game late in the first half.
Wilson has embraced his role as the focal point of the Bears offense, posting consecutive games with over 130 yards rushing and scoring four touchdowns during that span. In the Bears second home game of the season, against Western Illinois, Wilson rushed for a season-high 158 yards and hit paydirt three times. He followed that with a 135-yard, one-touchdown performance in a nationally televised game against Weber State. For the year, Wilson has 435 rushing yards, leaving him 551 to become the school's all-time leading rusher (3,519). While an average of 92 yards per game would be enough to break the record, Wilson has been running at a clip of 146.5 yards per game in his last two contests, during which the Bears have seen their most productive offensive output of the season.
The Student-Athlete of the Month program is designed to recognize the athletic accomplishments of Northern Colorado student-athletes.
